Gates of History, Gates of Culture
The Municipality of Heraklion and more specifically the Department of Protection and Promotion of the Old Town of Residential Ensembles & Venetian Walls in collaboration with the 6th High School (D. Beaufort Street) implemented the action entitled "Gates of History, Gates of Culture". The action was included in the framework of the Act: "CONFIGURATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AREA IN THE COMMON AREA OF SAMPIONARAS BASEMENT (D. BEAUFOR STREET)" and was financed by the Operational Program "Competitiveness & Entrepreneurship", of the programming period "NSRF 2007 -2013", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The action was mainly aimed at highlighting the gates of Chandakas through special publications (triptych, album, postcard) that took place with the active participation of the students of the 6th High School. Specifically, students under the guidance of an archaeologist and photographer learned about the monument and the basic principles of photography and experimented by photographing the gates of the Venetian fortifications themselves.
The finish of their effort and the presentation of the action in general was presented at a special event on September 4, 2015 in the Vitouri Gate.

An "experiential" physical and real-time guided tour of the historic city center through new technologies and three-dimensional photorealistic representations. Texts, photographic material, narratives, offer more information about the city's monuments or some of its particular points.
