The Municipality of Heraklion has founded and functioned two developmental enterprises:

• The Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Service of Heraklion (D.E.Y.A.I.)
• The Municipal Enterprise of Culture, Tourism and Development of Heraklion (D.E.P.T.A.I.)
